The Office of Equality and Sustainability at Petra University was established in May 2021 with invaluable support from the Free Erasmus+ project. The office leads efforts to ensure that during your stay at University of Petra, you will be part of an inclusive environment that honors cultural diversity and gender integration. The office also plans to create a sustainable environment and harness available efforts while maintaining our core values. It seeks to support innovation, education, and community development by providing its own resources and utilizing those available at the university.

      To be a sustainable center in Jordan and the region for spreading knowledge about gender equality, diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities.

- Responsibilities of the Office:

The office will work on promoting gender equality and empowering women through the higher education community. Additionally, it will manage a range of ongoing agendas for training courses and lead the development of a program to disseminate knowledge about gender equality in Jordan. Our responsibilities include:

  1. Promoting institutional and community culture by organizing sessions highlighting the success stories of women from the local community.

  2. Ensuring fair and transparent procedures for selecting institutional leaders and decision-makers.

  3. Ensuring fair and transparent hiring procedures for selecting suitable candidates regardless of gender and in light of equal opportunities.

  4. Integrating gender aspects into research and teaching content at the university to explore different teaching and development methods available for both genders.

  5. Connecting female members of the university community with successful female leaders at both national and international levels.
