University of Petra Ranks Fifth Among Jordanian Universities in the 2024 "Green Metric" Global Ranking

University of Petra secured fifth place among Jordanian universities in the 2024 "Green Metric" global ranking, advancing 14 positions from last year to rank 259 globally. This achievement comes despite a 25% increase in participating universities this year.

The university scored 7,750 points, marking an increase of 325 points (4.4%) compared to 2023 and 850 points (12.3%) compared to 2021, reflecting its commitment to adhering to global environmental and research standards.

The President of the University of Petra, Professor Rami Abdel-Rahem, emphasized that this accomplishment enhances the university's status both locally and internationally, stating:
"This significant achievement in a prestigious global ranking reflects our continuous efforts in development and environmental sustainability. It embodies our aspirations to strengthen the university's position among leading global rankings."

He added, "This progress is the result of the dedication of our academic and administrative staff and our focus on implementing sustainability standards related to water, energy, and the environment. We recognize the critical role universities play in addressing global climate change and supporting community sustainability."

Professor Abdel-Rahem also highlighted the university's ongoing commitment to providing an integrated educational and research environment that aligns with the highest global standards, supporting scientific research and innovation to achieve sustainability and academic excellence.

The "UI Green Metric" ranking evaluates universities based on key criteria, including energy and climate change, education and research, waste management practices, transportation, infrastructure, and water standards. The University of Petra's adherence to and excellence in these criteria underscores its achievements on both local and international levels.
