The Civil Engineering program at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Petra has been accredited by the Arab Commission for Accreditation in Engineering and Technology (ACAET) affiliated with the Federation of Arab Engineers.
The Engineering Programs Accreditation Commission granted the University of Petra accreditation after it had fulfilled all engineering accreditation criteria in accordance with the primary system of the Arab Commission for Engineering and Technology Accreditation.
The evaluation committee consisted of specialists headed by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Commission, Prof. Adel Al-Hadithi. The committee made a field visit to the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Civil Engineering. They approved that the civil engineering program at the University of Petra had met the accreditation requirements.
Accreditation enables graduates of the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Petra to join the Engineers Syndicates in the sister Arab countries. It also facilitates their obtaining the residencies necessary to practice engineering there.
