University outcomes shape society in a direct way. That is why the University of Petra has invested in building and implementing its own quality assurance system—and in using the results to earn a solid reputation among the broader community and the academic world. Our quality journey started in 2006 with the Hussein Fund for Excellence, progressed through ISO 9001 certification in 2011, and advanced to QMS – ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2017. In 2015, the University became the first institution in Jordan to receive the quality assurance certificate from the Higher Education Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (HEAC). This commitment to academic development has also resulted in prestigious accreditations such as ABET, ACPE, ASIIN, ASIC, IIMP, and IOA.
We see these certifications as a foundation, not a finish line. Sustained effort is needed across academic, administrative, and research areas—from promoting a culture of quality and strengthening staff competencies, to developing programs, refining teaching methods, and improving student services. Quality management must also draw on stakeholder feedback—from students, graduates, employers, and the local community—as well as the expertise of faculty members and benchmarking against leading educational institutions.
On this basis, the University has shaped a forward-looking vision: quality as a daily practice, a distinguished reputation locally and internationally, a strong institutional identity, and a meaningful contribution to the advancement of future generations and the nation.
