
The President of University of Petra, Prof. Rami Abdel-Rahem, presided over the opening of the Open Day events, aimed at welcoming students and their families, introducing them to the university, its majors, and services. The Cultural Counselor of Algeria, Asma Labiad, attended the event, which took place in the "Central Park" within the university campus.
The organizers of the Open Day set up committees to receive visitors as part of a program that included a guided tour of the university campus to introduce them to the faculties, provide an overview of their majors and achievements, acquaint them with the facilities and gardens, and the university's commercial market, which included many stalls covering all student needs. Additionally, they explained the university's accomplishments and international accreditations.
Prof. Rami Abdel-Rahem, the President of the university, stated that the university aims, through this event, to acquaint visitors with the outstanding infrastructure of University of Petra and increase their knowledge of the university's academic excellence.
Visitors to the university were accompanied by a group of university students who provided explanations and answered questions from students and their families regarding the offered majors and student life within the campus. They also provided explanations about the university's laboratories, studios, and applied curricula.
The university allocated sections for each faculty and center within the "Central Park", in addition to a section for academic counseling for students and their families, offering assistance to students in choosing suitable majors based on their personal interests and practical skills, aligned with their academic performance.
A section was dedicated to the Dean of Student Affairs to introduce visitors to the activities of the dean's office, which contributes to students' personal development, as well as sports facilities, intellectual activities, and information on opportunities available within the university scholarships and discounts based on sporting and artistic achievements.
A section was allocated for the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, which provided explanations on the registration process, acceptance rates, and the process of equivalency for non-Jordanian certificates. The exhibition included sections for the Faculties of Pharmacy, Medical Sciences, Information Technology, Administrative and Financial Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Architecture and Design, Mass Communication, Law, and Engineering.
Guests also visited the section dedicated to the Continuing Education Center, where they learned about the training courses offered by the center to students who did not pass the General Secondary Examination (Tawjihi), enabling them to acquire the necessary skills to enter the job market through specialized and intensive courses, and to obtain accredited certificates from the Ministry of Higher Education.
The exhibition also featured a variety of entertainment programs presented by the university's sports department and the university choir, in addition to providing hospitality and gifts to visitors prepared by the Public and International Relations Department.
