The Faculty of Arts & Sciences of the University of Petra (FAS-UOP) has organized an honoring ceremony for FAS outstanding students and winners of the UOP-wide short story contest organized by FAS.

Prof. Rami Abdelraheem, FAS Dean and ceremony sponsor, has handed shields, certificates, and monetary prizes to the honored students, winners of the contest, and the ceremony organizers.

Prof. Abdelraheem: "We meet today to honor a group of FAS outstanding students for their academic excellence, and winners of the short story contest for their literary distinction, as part of the UOP direction to foster various talented students and give them the opportunity to grow and reach higher levels of creativity".

Prof. Abdelraheem noted that: "The academic excellence reflects efforts exerted by the departments and tutors to elevate the academic level in line with the UOP vision to prepare distinctive authors, scientists, and educational experts for the labor market".

Dr. Amani Abu Suleiman, Chair of Arabic Language and Literature Department (ALLD-FAS), said: "Today, we celebrate a caliber of our students who sew, waited and the time came to honor them, hoping such honoring would encourage them to make further accomplishments".

ALLD Student Rania Abu Ajamiyah delivered an outstanding student speech and expressed her pleasure for the honoring of FAS students, thanking all supporters of the outstanding students, including families, professors, and friends. The ceremony included a singing show presented by the UOP Student Affairs Deanship band.

It is worth highlighting that ALLD-FAS yearly organizes major annual conferences, cultural activities, and UOP-wide/Kingdom-wide contests, except for the year of the COVID-19 outbreak. This year, UOP ALLD has resumed organizing the short story contest with the participation of students from all UOP faculties. The contest jury was comprised of Prof. Razan Ibrahim,  HE Dr. Lana Mamkegh, and Prof. Amani Suleiman Daoud.

ALLD student Ibtisam Alhasban has won first place, MD student Nour Alasoud has won second place, and ALLD student Roua Dukhan has won third place.
