The Equality and Sustainability Office at the University of Petra held a panel discussion entitled: “Promoting Female Academics Participation in Internationally Funded Projects: The Network of She Leads at Yarmouk University as a Model", which was presented by Dr. Ayat Nashwan, the Associate Professor and Head of the Sociology Department at Yarmouk University, in the presence of several female researchers and academics from the University of Petra, Yarmouk University, the Hashemite University, and the Arab Open University.
In the symposium, Dr. Nashwan spoke about her academic and practical experience and the story of successes and challenges she faced in her career, where she wrote more than 16 researches funded by various local and international parties. She also asserted on the importance of academic women in the development of society and the need for cooperation between academics and administrators to reach the desired goals of the projects. Dr. Nashwan also presented the "She Leads" network as a successful initiative that includes several female academic researchers at Yarmouk University who were trained during many workshops on writing and applying for internationally funded projects, and this network was able to obtain its first funded project in record time. However, the Equality and Sustainability Office at the UOP intends to conclude a joint MOU with Yarmouk University to expand the network to include researchers from the University of Petra soon.
The symposium was concluded with the attendees' inquiries and their questions about the enrichment and information provided by Dr. Nashwan. However, a comprehensive summary of the symposium's content and an overview of attendees will be provided at the Equality and Sustainability Office for the reference of interested academicians and administrative staff.
