The Graphic Design Department at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at University of Petra announced the names of the winning students in a competition organized by the department in collaboration with the University's Anti-Smoking Committee. The competition, titled "For a Smoke-Free Healthy Environment," featured visual designs executed by 23 students who presented innovative proposals for a logo representing the committee responsible for anti-smoking efforts.
The results revealed that the winning students are Tareq Shari, Tala Sharqawi, Liana Al-Dweik, Yasmin Hassan, and Farah Darwish. The dean of the faculty, Dr. Amer Al-Joukhdar, awarded certificates of appreciation to the five students who received the highest votes.
This event aimed to support the idea of a smoke-free university environment and included the creation of 26 posters, brochures, reference signs, and awareness banners reflecting the negative effects of smoking in various aspects of life. The goal was to achieve positive results, starting with helping smokers quit and encouraging others to refrain from smoking, ultimately creating a healthy environment within the university campus.
The initiative was supervised by Dr. Aida Jokhorsha from the Graphic Design Department and Engineer Hamza Zaid. Participating students provided detailed explanations of their ideas, using visual symbols to raise public awareness about the harms of smoking and the need to stay away from it, with the aim of creating a healthy environment within the university campus.
This initiative is part of the efforts of University of Petra's Anti-Smoking Committee to establish a healthy and clean university environment, providing a platform for students to participate in electronic competitions and encouraging their initiative and creativity. The university also plans to print and distribute outstanding works during various events on campus to support and encourage students.
