The Higher Education Council approved the decision of the UOP Board of Trustees to appoint Prof. Rami Abdel-Rahem as UOP President in succession to Prof. Marwan Al Muwalla who served as UOP President for two terms of eight continuous years.
Prof. Rami Abdel-Rahem received a PhD degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Bayreuth in Germany in 2003, and Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Applied Chemistry from the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST).
Prof. Abdel-Rahem held the position of Dean of UOP Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 2018, and held various positions at UOP, including: Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Chair of the Chemistry Department, and served as Associate Professor in King Faisal University at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Prof. Abdel-Rahem published 43 research papers, completed 20 research papers, received 19 awards for his published research papers, served as a chairman of 23 councils and committees during his academic career, including the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Council, Advisory Council of the Academic Development Center, the First Disciplinary Council of Teaching Staff. Moreover, Prof. Abdel-Rahem served as a chairman of various committees, including: Study Plans Committee, University Proficiency Examination Committee, Committee of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences Advisory Council, and ASIIN Accreditation Committee for the Chemistry Department.
Prof. Abdel-Rahem enjoys extensive experience in education quality and served as a rapporteur of the UOP Inclusion in the National Framework of Qualifications.
