A Pharmaceutical master's thesis at the University of Petra (UOP) was found to produce a thematic objective that increases the permeability of therapeutic drugs and pain relievers through the skin without side effects. Pharmacist, Layali Shafi’a, discussed her master’s thesis entitled: "Laboratory studies of the permeability of diclofenac diamine from a fusion solvent" at the Faculty of Pharmacy of UOP.
The results of Shafi’a's study came up with the creation of a substance that helps increase the permeability of the drug "diclofenac" through the human skin. This drug is used as a treatment for arthritis and local pain since it is used as a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory. Laboratory experiments have demonstrated the superiority of the innovative solvent over its counterparts through rapid permeability of the skin, in addition to the disappearance of side effects like skin irritation.
The Master Examination Committee was composed of Dr. Mayas Al-Rimawi as lead Supervisor, Dr. Faisal Al-Akaileh as Associate Supervisor, Dr. Muhammad Al-Natour, and Dr. Sulaiman Al-Fayoumi from UOP as well as Dr. Mai Khanfar from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST).
Dr. Ibrahim Al-Adham, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and number of faculty members and interested people attended part of the discussion. The scientific research results reached by the student were praised.
