UOP Wins Second Prize of El Hassan Bin Talal Award for Scientific Excellence 2018

HRH Prince Hassan Bin Talal handed the second prize of El Hassan Bin Talal Award for Scientific Excellence to UOP President Prof. Marwan Muwalla in a ceremony organized in the Royal Cultural Center.
The University of Petra (UOP) and University of Jordan (UJ) shared the second prize of the award. Twenty-five applicants from fourteen Jordanian universities took part in the competition. UOP's project entitled “Development of Oral Insulin Delivery System” by UOP-FPMS and UJ for its project “Cell Therapy Center” shared the second prize.
UOP winning project revolves around putting insulin in vesicles using nanotechnology. The phospholipid was used as carrying materials of the oral insulin. The award booklet stated that UOP project will positively impact the patients’ life and generate significant returns.
The first prize was granted to the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) for its project titled “Initiating and Developing a Referral Diagnostic Laboratory for Transboundary Animal Diseases, and Abortive and Neonatal Diseases”, while the Hashemite University’s “The University Academic Nursery” project and the Al Hussein Bin Talal University’s “The role of Petra College for tourism and archaeology in uncovering and introducing the cultural heritage of Jordan” proposal shared the third prize.
