University of Petra's Academic Development Center, under the patronage of UOP President Prof. Rami Abdel-Rahem, organized an orientation and training program for new faculty members for the 2025/2026 academic year.
In his address, Abdel-Rahem welcomed the participants, expressing his delight at their joining the UOP community, which he described as committed to being the University of Choice for scholars and learners, offering education that meets global quality standards. He stressed that UOP provides an academic environment that respects intellectual freedom and encourages creativity, flexibility, and excellence, noting the university's distinction as the first Jordanian institution to earn quality assurance certification, which it has recently renewed.
Abdel-Rahem highlighted the pivotal role of faculty in preparing a new generation equipped with the knowledge and skills to compete locally, regionally, and internationally, urging them to be role models of academic integrity, discipline, and innovation.
Academic Development Center Director Dr. Taghreed Abu Hamdan explained that the orientation is held annually to introduce new faculty to UOP's administrative units, systems, and services, in addition to offering an intensive two-week training program. The sessions cover course planning, academic advising, e-learning platforms such as Moodle, Blackboard, and Microsoft Teams, online teaching methodologies, computerized examinations, and the use of AI tools in higher education.
