Computer Information Systems Bachelor Program and Computer Science Bachelor Program offered by the University Of Petra (UOP) / Faculty of Information Technology have been accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Thus, graduates of these majors would obtain benefits similar to graduates of USA universities.
The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is a non-governmental organization that accredits colleges and universities' education programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. ABET has a team of specialists who evaluate curricula, competency of teaching staff, students’ level, material and human resources, support provided by the university to colleges and departments and other aspects on quality and effectiveness of education process.
The Academic accreditation enables colleges and universities in following a global organized method to evaluate and improve educational process and guides students as well as parents in selecting colleges and universities that provide high quality programs. Therefore, graduates of these programs would find job opportunities in public and private companies and pursue their higher studies at the most prestigious global universities.
Prof. Marwan Muwalla, UOP President, said that ABET accreditation of information systems and computer science programs indicates that graduates of these majors enjoy skills, competencies and competing ability enjoyed by graduates of USA universities.
The Dean of Faculty of Information Technology, Prof. Ghassan Issa, made clear that ABET accreditation emphasizes on the prestigious level of the faculty study plans and provides them with distinctive job opportunities in global companies worldwide.
"As for benefits obtained by UOP, ABET Certificate emphasizes that UOP adheres to education quality requirements and enables UOP to exchange students studying ABET-accredited majors with ABET-accredited institutions,” Prof. Issa added.
